Original land plats are always unique things to have.  They show relationships of families as well as land ownership.  Land plats were redone over the years, so you may be able to find one that has your ancestors names on it.  This one has my Mills, Thompson, and Lewis families.

The land plat books recorded the original purchasers.  They are broken down by section, township and range.

We all hope to find what I call 'for love and affection' deeds.  These are the ones that parents give children and that ties the families together.  In this one Hugh and Harriett Lewis gave land to William and Nancy Massey land.  Nancy was their daughter.

Deeds are also useful in finding out where people moved to.  This one was found in Washington Co, AR, but says the sellers of the land were now residents of Travis Co, TX!

These were obtained from the family history center library in Salt Lake City microfilm collection.
