My husband's great grandmother was a Sellars. Note the spelling.
It is even that way in records, which is amazing since so many of the other
surnames I've worked on have been varied and almost obscured by county
clerks and census takers. The a occasionally is an e, but that is the more
common spelling. The family knew who this great grandmother's parents
were, it was going back the additional generation that was a challenge.
I got lucky in Point Coupee Parish, LA. They have records back to
1808. I found succession records (probate records) that really spelled out
the children and the wife's name. Now I've added the Curry surname to the
hunt.
