OPAL WRIGHT according to court papers was intimidated/scared and was forced to sign away her rights to her baby girl.
that baby was adopted by AMIE LENA JOHNSON FOWLER
and HOLLIS CLIFTON FOWLER at 6 months old/adoptive parents was a school teacher/farmer from adjoining counrty to Tom Green Cnty.

It is late at night, (for me) and my contacts are killing me. That's my excuse, other than stupidity, for not being able to find your email address. I am 50 years old and have had chronic pain from TMJ for 10 yrs. My best medicine is gardening, but due to an unusually cold autumn,
I have started on my husband's genealogy line. I must put Dutoy Roper to rest before I can start on the Shouse line.
My husband, Gary, recently had a 25 marker DNA test. I must tell you how proud I am of my son, John Nathan Roper, who was deafened by meningitis at 16 months of age. He is
in his 2nd yr at Rochester Institute of Technology and is on the Dean's list. We live in Southaven, MS,just south of Memphis, TN. Nathan reports an enormous snow in Rochester, NY. However, they have underground tunnels so they can go from building to building. Thanks for allowing me to "breathe." Lucy

I am the grandaughter of Edith Showers, daughter of Charles Henry Showers and Mary Elizabeth Lyons. Your website shows my grandmother married to an O.J. Stockard but I know this is incorrect. She Married my grandfather, David Joseph Saunders Stockard. They had 4 children, David Joseph Stockard, Lester Morton Stockard, Edith Elizabeth Stockard and my dad, Charles Cohron Stockard. Edith Stockard Roosa is the only child living and is 84 yrs old. She resides in Clearwater FL. My great Uncle Everett J Showers passed away about 2 years ago leaving his surviving wife, Bessie. My Aunt Edith has letters from him and I'm certain I can put my hands on them. He was a long time resident of Mobile, AL.

Your website is the best genealogy website I have ever seen! It is easily maneuverable and very well documented and I enjoyed it very much. I was looking for John Wilson, born in TN abt 1804-5, father of William Wilson, born in AL in April 1848. William was my great great grandfather. I scanned the Robert Wilson line but I didn't see a John born in TN in 1804-5, but I bet we are related somehow. I will let you know if and when I find that we are.
Take care

I know very little about family history. However, my mother, Imogene Touchstone Shows, widow of Merle E. Shows, is sure her family migrated from Mississippi to Texas and maybe great grandfather buried in Coryell County. Her parents Samuel Alexander and Effie Lee Touchstone are buried in the McAfee Cemetary in Ovala, Texas. They were the parents of twelve children of whom my mother and one sister are still living.

I'm not really sure I have ancesters in your site. I began by looking for Beech's. It is my understanding that I was named after a relative named Vernetia Lee(surname). But have been unable to locate any so stumbled on Venecia Mitchell. It is certainly the right area: Picayune Ms. is where my father's family was. His name was Neville Eugene Beech and he had a brother named Luther Morgan Beech (named after some Morgans, I think). Please feel free to contact me if you have any information. I know virtually nothing about this side of my family - not even my Grandmother's maiden name or my Grandfather's given name. Shameful isn't it?

I enjoyed the site, but to be honest the reason I visited was a search for "The Woodsman Lodge". Thank You

Joseph and Nancy are the parents of Adry Hicks. Adry and wife Nancy Jenkins went to Tennessee. Joseph and wife Nancy and several children went to Texas. Your website is wonderful. I found it by looking for other Hicks Head of Household listed in same county 1790: Charles, Howell, Robert, Thomas... hoping to find something to connect anyone.
Unfortunately, your Howell Hicks is too young, plus I don't even know if Adrey is related...

Do you have any info on the parents of Mary Brown Weeks? She was b. 8 Apr 1840 in MD; d. 1927 in TX; m. Benjamin Clark Melton, 22 Sep 1853 in MO.

This is the info I have so far:

- When Mary was an infant, her family left her with (unknown) relatives in Indiana, while the family went down a river and were killed.
- In 1850 there were two families of Browns living in Jefferson Co. near Allen Melton, father of Benjamin Melton, and it is possible they are related since Mary carries the middle name of Brown.
- In 1860 there was a Sariah Weeks living with Benjamin and Mary Melton. Related to Mary?
- Family history says Mary’s parents were William Dewland and Anna Myra Wilson, but I have no supporting evidence of this.
- Anna Myra Wilson had a previous marriage, to a McCall, and had two children by him: James and Alice.

I have found a link that says she was married to someone named Hunnicut. but this is not correct. My grandmother never mentioned anyone named Hunicutt.

This is my family lines- I'm sure of it now. My line comes through Emaline (Emiline/ Emma) Taunton. I believe she was the daughter of Asa (Azor) and Louisiana Wealthie Hawthorn.
You show them with a daughter names Emily, the conveyance records show a E.A. Taunton, I found records that Wealthie remarried a R.H. Dosher in 1889. When Emiline's daughter, Leanna, died in 1940, the funeral was attended by her relatives with the last name Dosher. Leanna was born in 1883 and married John Alexander Wilks, born 1884. They lived in Catahoula and LaSalle Parishes in Louisiana.

I have pictures of Leanna in case your interested.

I know throughout our family lines, there is Indian heritage. My grandmother told me that Emiline Taunton was part Choctow, do you have the same info or documented cases of Indian Heritages in the family.

Please keep me on your mailing lists. I'm only doing this for my children- I'm not one looking for publishing, ect.
Just want to know where I came from.

Emiline was my g.g.grandmother.

From Jan Thompson Foreman (tx5250@aol.com)
Hello. Thanks again for your terrific website. It has really inspired me to keep working down lines! I'm working on family history and came across your Ancestry.com sites. My children are in the Ottie Z Foreman line. However, your site omits their grandfather, Lonnie Z Foreman,Sr., who passed away the early 60's in an Air Force plane crash in White Horse, Canada. Their dad is Lonnie Z Foreman, Jr. So,
if you'll look at the two sites below, you'll have some additional info if you want to update your family history info. The first url is the website
for veterans of Runnels County, TX. Lonnie Z Foreman, Sr and Bobby Wayne Foreman are listed. There is one correction to that also. Son Daniel Wayne Foreman should be corrected to David Wayne Foreman. Also, Rutland is the last name of Aunt Imogene, not Ruthland.

The second url is a list of family to the Kolb line. The Ottie Z Foreman line is listed with children and grandchildren.
Thanks, Jan Thompson Foreman - - - e-mail: tx5250@aol.com

What a fantastic site! I can't believe that in 2 years of surfing the web for information on my Melton line I never found this treasure trove before now. Thanks to you I have completed my 5 generation chart with the name of my gg grandmother Adalisa Dorethy, wife of Leonard Melton, b. 1836 in IL. I also now have the names of my g grandmother Susan Melton's siblings. The only one I knew before was her brother Robert.

I am very happy to be able to fill in a few of your "unknowns". Susan Melton b. 1868 in Lewistown, IL married John Henry Clayberg in Fulton County, IL 02/04/1886 (IL Statewide Marriage Index 1763-1900). He died in 1910 and is buried in Section E, Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, IL (Cuba Cemetery Records). Their children were:
* Ray Clayberg, b. 1/28/1887; d. 11/09/1961
* Inez Clayberg (my grandmother) b. 06-14-1889; d. 02/02/1960.
* Lennie b. 6-14-1893; d. 10-05-1929
Harold b. 1-15-1904; d. 11-03-1979
Alva b. unknown; d. date unknown, Rockford, IL
Essie b. unknown; d. unknown (probably lived most of her life in Canton area).
*Hazel b. 04/22/1896, Bryant, IL; d. 08-25-1922, Dunfermline, IL
* Ruby b. 12/07/1906; d. 08-27-1926

* buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton, IL

I have further information - marriages, funeral home records and cemetery records if anyone is interested.

Susan Melton's second marriage was to Frank Tompkins 8-16-1913 in Peoria, IL. She died in 1938 and is buried as Susan Clayberg, Lot 393, 1872 Addition, Sec. E. Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, IL

I have a photograph of her in my possession and photos of some of her children Inez, Hazel, Alva, and Essie

Susan's brother Robert I. Melton was born 12-14-1863 near Macomb, IL. He married Laura Grace Ellis, 1898, Canton, IL. He died 05-31-1930 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton, IL. His father is listed as Leonard Melton, b. MO. Two children and 2 stepchildren are listed by name. All of this information is from funeral home records (Murphy Sedgwick vol. 3, Canton, IL)

Using infomation from your website, I was able to find this infrom from IL Statewide Marriage Index 1763-1900:
Ida I. Melton m. Charles W. Kitchel, Fulton Co., IL 09/15/1886
Minnie Melton m. Ennett Tompkins, Fulton Co., IL 02/03/1891.

Who is your oldest documented ancestor? Grandparents
Comments:
My grandfather on my mother's side (Gladys Melton, b. 22 Dec, 1901, d 11 Dec. 1968) were Ephrian?Ethan (E.B.)Melton, bJan. 1859 in Al and Carrie Jane Doster b 3 Mar 1867, Columbus, Ga d 16 May, 1960, Shreveport, La. They were married 11 May, 1884 in Elmore Co. Al. They had 15 children, eventually moving to Arcadia, La. On some websites they have my grandmother, Carrie Jane Doster, listed as being married to Henry Dallas Melton, and list the same children. I don't know who this is but he was not my grandfather. I have been told but cannot prove that my great grandparents were William David Doster b Feb. 1841 in Georgia, d 21 Mar, 1922 Elmore Co. Al, and Margaret Wallace b May, 1839 in Georgia ; d 9 Aug, 1914 Elmore Co. Al. I cannot find either of my great grandparents listed on any website. If you have any information that would help me I would appreciate this. I have only been researching about 2 months and am really not sure what I am doing yet. Thank you, Linda Heath

My oldest documented ancestor is not why I am here. I was sent to you by Ron Johnson as I found Samuel Cobb and Sarah Sailor on his rootsweb site. I was contacted by a Cobb descendant who told me this may be the parent of my John Cobb, born 1814 in Henry County, Kentucky. I have his biography from 1881 Lake County, California, but he forgot to tell us his parents or his siblings names. Makes it hard to find a John Cobb in the stack of them out there. If this is in your database, please contact me.

John Cobb married Esther Deming in 1848 in Illinois and then they moved to California about 1850 - they were my gr gr grandparents.

Who is your oldest documented ancestor? Mastak Tipton Stephenson
Comments:
I am fairly new at finding my family roots, but I happened to run across your beautiful and informative site through Ansestry.com. I am related to the Stephenson side. Cannon LaFayette Stephenson my gggrand father who is buried in Vernon, Texas along with his wife Mary, a son Lester and my ggrand Mother Mina Myrtle (Stephenson) Agee/Hoover. It has been real difficult tracing the Stephenson line. Myrtle had several sisters and some brothers but I cannot find any information about them. They seemed to have vanished into thin air. My mother remembers a few names like Vivian, Viola and Beulah. So, if anyone has been researching the Stephenson clan and recognizes some of these names, I could really use some help.

Who is your oldest documented ancestor? Daniel Monroe Shows
Comments:
Daniel Monroe Shows, son of James Shows, son of Adam Shows, married Sarah Anne Terrell of Jasper County Mississippi. My maternal grandmother, Sarah "Sallie" Elizabeth Shows was their daughter. I am seeking documentation for Sarah Anne Terrells of Jasper County. She was born, according to Census in July 1830 in Jasper County. She married Daniel Monroe Shows about 1846 and they lived in Jones County where he was County Clerk. He died in Civil War in 1864/65 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama according to Sarah "Sallie Elizabeth Shows' family history letter (held by me) and according to his Civil War records. Sarah Anne Terrell eventually moved with their eight children back to Jasper County in the 1880 Census, and back to Jones County in the 1900 Census. She died in 1900 and is burried in the Jones Shows family Cemetery in Jones County alongside her daughter, Drusilla A. Shows. Sallie's Family History Letter states that "my mother's people was Terrells. They came here from South Calina. My gran father Terrell was one of the first white settlers in Jasper Co. Miss. The Indians were there." My best guess is that her parents were Joshua Terrell and Susanah Land Terrell of South Carolina, Georgia, and Jasper County, Mississippi. I would appreciate communication from anyone concerning Sarah Anne Terrell's parents.

Who is your oldest documented ancestor? Richard Touchton
Comments:
Richard Touchton, circa 1657, from Maryland was the first Touchton to arrive on these shores. I would like to know who his children were and more about any of those Touchstones/Touchtones/Touchtons who stayed in Maryland. I am NOT at the moment interested in those who ventured into western Maryland or into North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. I am trying to complete my line from Richard to my father, F. Morris Touchstone, whose father was Frederick H. Touchton, whose father was Alfred M. Touchton, whose father was Henry Touchton. From this point I am having trouble locating the father of Henry who married Pamelia Carroll, daughter of Aquila Carroll. Is there anyone out there who can help fill me in on these Maryland Touchstones????

Hi! Found your site through a link on ancestry.com. My gg-grandmother is Lucy Henrietta Nicholson who married Andrew Jackson Rowlett. The information you have provided has been wonderful to find. And I also appreciate the fact that you list sources - not just speculation as some of it is - but the actual census info, etc. It's been great!
Just want to say thanks. I'm working on my website right now but don't have much genealogy info there yet - it's mainly about "us" and our hobbies. www.geocities.com/imacouturier/
